I count it such a privilege to be the tumuaki at Te Kura O Ngaruawaahia, a privilege I don’t take for granted. We have a rich history of being a provider of education in this area, 153 years in fact. Our school values of Manamotuhake, Manaakitanga, Kotahitanga and Whakapiringatanga are at the forefront of all we do and make up part of our graduate profile. We believe these values set tamariki up to be successful in all areas of life, as they move onto their next chapter in whatever they choose to do.

Te Kura O Ngaaruawaahia has an innovative and passionate staff, who have a wealth of knowledge and experiences, which enable them to mold the next generation of life-long learners.

Our teaching practice focuses on being Relational, Responsive, Relevant, Responsible and Reflective, which puts aakonga at the center of all that we do. Our vision statement of “aakonga are secure in knowing who they are and where they are from to help them achieve their full potential” drives us to create and develop a local curriculum that provides hononga for aakonga to learn their whakapapa and to feel proud of our local history.

We are on a new journey and are committed to creating a learning environment that is inclusive of everyone’s strengths and talents. None of this happens without the strong partnership and support between home and kura. This partnership is vital for the success of each of our aakonga and so we commit to whanaungatanga to support learning and behaviour. Communication is key.
